David Sullivan is a partner in Nutter’s Tax Department. With more than twenty-eight years experience, he focuses his practice on all federal and state taxation, including advising clients with respect to transactional, financing and exit strategies. He represents private companies, banks, tax exempt entites and public agencies with an emphasis on structuring and implementing financing, venture capital, joint venture, merger and development transactions.
David has worked extensively in structuring and closing tax advantaged investments including tax-exempt bond financing transactions, representing issuers, borrowers, lenders, exempt entities and underwriters with regard to both privately funded and syndicated transactions as well as historic and low-income tax credit transactions.
In addition to business tax planning, David has particular experience in tax controversies, audits and litigation, including trial work before the Federal Tax Court, the Federal District Court, the Massachusetts Appeals Court and the Massachusetts Appellate Tax Board.
David is a member of the Boston Tax Council, the Boston Bar Association and the Massachusetts Bar Association. He currently serves on the Town of Hamilton, Massachusetts Zoning Board of Appeals.
